This symposium will provide an overview of perioperative strategies for managing the unique challenges associated with benign colorectal diseases, including diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease. Through case-based presentations and expert commentary, the session will highlight practical approaches to multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary care. The panel will also emphasize strategies to optimize intraoperative collaboration between junior and senior surgeons.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Know when to consult with a colleague in managing complex cases.
Recognize how to assist a colleague confronting unusual/unexpected findings.
Prepare to manage difficult cases.
Gain expert knowledge of intraoperative strategies to mitigate risk and navigate complex benign pathology.
