Brian Bello, MD

Regional Chief of Colorectal Surgery

Brian Bello, MD is Regional Chief of Colorectal Surgery at MedStar Health and Program Director of the fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at MedStar Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a graduate degree from Georgetown University. He finished medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia where he was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Bello completed a residency in general surgery and fellowships in both minimally invasive surgery and colon and rectal surgery at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Bello specializes in the treatment of colon cancer, rectal cancer, anal cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, complex anorectal disorders, diverticulitis, fecal incontinence, chronic constipation, pelvic floor disorders, colonoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, and general surgery. Dr. Bello has advanced training in performing state-of-the-art minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery for major colon and rectal surgery. He has a special interest in researching enhanced recovery protocols and outcomes after surgery.
