Jonathan Abelson is currently a Staff Surgeon at Lahey Hospital Medical Center in Burlington, MA and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tufts University Medical Center and UMass Chan Medical School. He obtained a Bachelor’s in Science in Engineering in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He then obtained his MD degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his general surgery residency in 2019 at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medicine and colorectal surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis – Barnes Jewish Hospital in 2020. His clinical and research interests include improving outcomes in colorectal cancer, specifically how best to facilitate decision making between surgery and nonoperative management in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer.
