Dr. Sonia Ramamoorthy is a Professor of Surgery and Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at UC San Diego Health System. She completed both her clinical research fellowship and her general surgery residency at UC San Diego, and a Colorectal Surgery fellowship at Washington University’s Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She earned her BA degree at the University of California, Berkeley, an MD/MS at Boston University School of Medicine, and her MBA at the Rady’s School of Management. Dr. Ramamoorthy’s research interests include gender equity, colorectal cancer, physician wellness, and quality related outcomes. She has authored over a hundred papers and chapters in colorectal surgery and remains an enthusiastic educator in the field of minimal invasive surgery.
