Dr. Carol-Ann Vasilevsky obtained her MDCM from McGill University, where she also completed her residency in General Surgery. She subsequently pursued subspecialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Minnesota.
She is certified in both General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is also a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
Dr. Vasilevsky has held several national leadership roles, including serving as President of the Canadian Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and as Chair of the Colorectal Surgery Subcommittee of the Canadian Association of General Surgeons. She has also contributed to national policy as a member of the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee, helping to shape standards for early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer in Canada.
She is currently Director of the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the Jewish General Hospital, where she has championed the adoption of minimally invasive techniques in the management of colorectal disease. She is also an Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology at McGill University, actively involved in the training and mentorship of general surgery residents and colorectal surgery fellows.
Her clinical and academic interests include endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and diverticulitis.
