Dr. Karagkounis completed his general surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He current practices at Memorial Sloan Kettering, where he specializes in treating colorectal and appendiceal cancer, particularly peritoneal metastases. His research focuses on optimizing clinical outcomes for patients with peritoneal metastases, and understanding the underlying mechanisms that drive peritoneal progression to identify vulnerabilities that can be the basis of alternative treatment approaches.
