Sharon L. Stein, MD, FACS, FASCRS is an internationally recognized colorectal surgeon, author, and speaker, and an Adjunct Professor at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine. With a deep commitment to transforming the culture of surgery, Dr. Stein created The Intentional Surgeon, a coaching and education platform for surgeons seeking clarity, renewed purpose, and growth in both their professional and personal lives.
She hosts The Intentional Surgeon Podcast, (https://www.intentionalsurgeon.com/listen-to-the-podcast) which highlights the people, institutions, and ideas shaping a more supportive and sustainable future in surgery. Dr. Stein is a sought-after facilitator and educator, working with organizations such as the Association of Women Surgeons Coaching Program, the American College of Surgeons’ “So You Want to Be a Chair” course, and the ASCRS Surgical Leadership Institute to deliver meaningful professional development rooted in both evidence and lived experience.
Her current work centers on peer support following complications, addressing harassment in surgery, and promoting surgeon well-being and career satisfaction. She brings a unique blend of surgical expertise and leadership development to her work, with advanced training in Intentional Change Theory, Positive Intelligence, and Positive Psychology, and a certificate in Coaching from the Weatherhead School of Management at CWRU.
