Benjamin Gallant, MD, is a PGY-2 General Surgery resident at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. He is currently completing academic development time, during which he serves as the Mark Kusek Colorectal Surgery Research Fellow in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center and is pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at UMass Chan Medical School. He plans to pursue fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery following completion of his General Surgery residency. Originally from the Worcester, Massachusetts area, Dr. Gallant earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. His research interests include novel nonoperative approaches to the management of uncomplicated diverticulitis, innovative applications of artificial intelligence in the treatment of colorectal malignancies, and outcomes research in rectal cancer.
