Dr. Anjelli Wignakumar is a dedicated Clinical Research Fellow at the Ellen Leifer Shulman and Steven Shulman Digestive Disease Center, Cleveland Clinic Florida. She earned her MBBS from Imperial College London, complemented by a BSc (Hons) in Medical Management from Imperial Business School. She completed her Foundation Training in the United Kingdom including placements in plastic, vascular, general surgery ansd urology.

Dr. Wignakumar is building a robust research portfolio currently focusing on colorectal cancer outcomes, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and surgical innovation. She has co-authored numerous publications in high-impact journals and delivered award-winning presentations at national and international surgical conferences, including the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress and the European Society of Coloproctology. Notably, her research on the effect of the sequence of colorectal cancer on survival outcomes was published in the Journal of American College of Surgeons and featured on Medscape as well.

A passionate educator, Dr. Wignakumar has led national teaching programs for surgical trainees and was assigned as Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow for medical students during her clinical training. This mentorship has continued on throughout her research fellowship as she mentored students through their summer research programme. Throughout medical school she took on many leadership roles from captaining sports teams to organizing national surgical workshops and academic conferences.
