Bong-Hyeon Kye, MD., Ph.D., is a Professor in the Departments of Surgery at The Catholic University of Korea, in Suwon, Korea. His MD degree with honor from The Catholic University College of Medicine in 2001. He board certified in General Surgery. Bong-Hyeon Kye is a Chief of Colorectal Cancer Center in St. Vincent’s Hospital from The Catholic University of Korea. His primary interests are related to benign and malignant disease of the colon and rectum including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional anorectal diseased, especially low anterior resection syndrome.
Bong-Hyeon Kye is recognized for his expertise in minimal invasive surgery for colorectal disease and is the author of lots of papers related to colorectal surgery. Now, he is involving some randomized controlled trials about surgical treatment for obstructive colon cancer as a chief investigator and many studies related to treatment of colorectal cancer. Especially, since 2014, he had had lots of interests in “bridge to surgery” after stent placement for obstructive colon cancer and published several papers about obstructive colon cancer as a main author.
He is one of active members in Korean Society of Coloproctology (KSCP). He has patents regarding development of the treatment strategy of obstructive colon cancer, the best way to treat patients with rectal cancer, and the optimal diagnostic tests and the treatment strategy for low anterior resection syndrome after rectal resection.
