Dr. Jennifer T. Anger is Vice Chair of Research and Professor in the Department of Urology at UC San Diego Health, specializing in gender affirming surgery. She completed her urology residency at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in urologic reconstruction at Duke University Medical Center. She then completed a second fellowship in urological health services research at UCLA, earning a master’s degree in public health in the process. Prior to joining UCSD in 2021, she was faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in Los Angeles, where she built a new residency program. In 2018 she founded and directed the ACGME-accredited Cedars-Sinai fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Anger graduated from University of California at Berkeley, then earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. She is board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She is an active member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the American Urological Association (AUA), the Society for Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), and the Genitourinary Reconstruction Society (GURS).
Dr. Anger is an expert in providing gender-affirming care to transgender and nonbinary patients and is dedicated to assuring that transgender individuals receive the highest quality, evidenced-based surgical care. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Urology Care Foundation. She has published over 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts. She receives invitations to speak at local, national, and international conferences. She is committed to improving quality of care and access to care for underserved populations, including aging women with pelvic floor disorders.
