Nell Maloney Patel MD, FACS, FSACRS is Professor of Surgery and the Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Maloney Patel received her medical degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine, before going on to complete her residency in General Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She then went on to receive training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the John H. Stroger Hospital for Cook County in Chicago, Il. She has been in practice in New Jersey at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School since completing her fellowship in 2007. Dr. Maloney Patel’s clinical practice specializes in minimally invasive approaches, particularly Robotics, for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and complex pelvic surgery. She is actively involved in surgical education and serves on the executive board for the Association for Surgical Education.
