The multidisciplinary management of rectal cancer is rapidly evolving. We will discuss emerging treatment strategies in rectal cancer with a focus on use of ctDNA, treatment of isolated liver metastatic disease, the role of immunotherapy and understanding and optimizing long term functional outcomes after treatment.
