Dr. Erika Rangel is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and an acute care surgeon and intensivist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also serves as the Associate Program Director. She is a graduate of the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency and critical care fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Her academic interest centers on defining the challenges facing surgeons starting a family, demonstrating how these impact burnout and career dissatisfaction, and using evidence to inform policy change to better support alignment of personal and professional priorities.
