Dr. Lilian Chen is Division Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Tufts Medical Center and Program Director of the Tufts General Surgery Residency. She has been deeply engaged in medical education throughout her career, serving as Chair of the Tufts University School of Medicine Curriculum Committee and holding leadership roles in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. She completed her Master of Science in Medical Education at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her academic interests center on surgical education, curriculum design, and mentorship, with a focus on entrustability, exceptional learner development, and innovative approaches to resident training. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the Dean’s Outstanding Mentor Award, and is active in national surgical societies. Clinically, her expertise spans the full spectrum of colorectal surgery, with interests in minimally invasive approaches and complex reoperative surgery.
