Karin Hardiman MD, PhD, is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Strange Family Endowed Professor of Surgical Science Research. She did her residency and colorectal fellowship in Portland, Oregon at Oregon Health and Science University. Her NIH funded research has focused on the mechanisms of treatment resistance and metastasis in colorectal cancer for more than 10 years. She is also interested in the quality of care and survivorship care. In addition to research and clinical care of patients, Dr. Hardiman mentors trainees to become physician scientists at multiple levels.
