Gerson Montoya-Cama, MD FACS is General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon at Cayetano Heredia National Hospital. He is Clinical Assistant Professor at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University and he has eight years of surgical experience in Trauma Surgery and Coloproctology, involved in clinical care, academic teaching, and resident training. He has postgraduate training in colorectal surgery at Das Clínicas Hospital of faculty of medicine of the university of São Paulo, Albert Eisntein Hospital in Brazil and Braga Hospital in Portugal. This training included the management of colorectal cancer, benign anorectal disease, stoma reversal, advanced laparoscopic surgery, pelvic floor disorders, and perioperative care in high-volume units. He is currently serving as Research Board Member of the Peruvian Medical Association of Coloproctology. He has been a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) since 2023 and is an active member of International Committee of ASCRS.
