Connie Shao MD MSPH recently graduated from general surgery residency at UAB and is currently in Colorectal Surgery fellowship at Ochsner. She is committed to improving equity in healthcare access through her research on telemedicine, health literacy, and enhanced recovery. Her research was funded by the American College of Surgeons, an institutional NIH T32 award, and the UAB School of Public Health. Her clinical experiences caring for patients in the Southeast and academic experiences in the ACS, SSAT, and SAAS have inspired her to pursue a career in academic colorectal surgery.
