Pia Canal Zarate, a physician from Universidad Anáhuac Norte in Mexico City, is a research fellow in Beth Israel's Colorectal Surgery Department. She focuses on improving surgical outcomes, particularly within the Latino community, by addressing key challenges such as health literacy. Her work aims to empower patients and reduce barriers to quality care. In addition, she conducts research on surgical and clinical outcomes in pathologies such as Lynch syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and rectal cancer.
