Vatche J. Melkonian is double board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, working towards becoming a comprehensive colorectal pediatric surgeon with the goal of managing anorectal malformations, inflammatory bowel disease, and transition clinics for patients aging out of the children’s hospital systems, in addition to general pediatric surgery and trauma/surgical critical care.
His undergraduate degree was in Italian and French Opera: Vocal Performance at Clark University in Worcester Massachusetts. He completed his medical education at Nova Southeastern University in 2018 and his general surgery training at St. Louis University Hospital in 2023. He then completed the Pediatric Colorectal Surgery Fellowship at the International Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care at Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2024 and a pediatric surgical critical care fellowship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri in 2025. He is currenly completing a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, and will begin his pediatric surgery fellowship at Oklahoma Children's Hospital stating in 2026.
