Rachel Hendee received her undergraduate degree in Biology with minors in German and Asian Studies from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She has a Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s in Medical Science (MMS) in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Downer’s Grove, Illinois.
Hendee worked in various surgical specialties but started working in Colon and Rectal Surgery in 2015 and came to Northwestern Medicine in April of 2022. She has a particular interest, including research in anal dysplasia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and ostomies. She volunteers extensively with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation as well as with organizations that support funding for diagnosing and treating colorectal cancer in young and underserved populations as well as providing support and advocating for patients with ostomies. She serves on the Board of Directors for Friends of Ostomates Worldwide (FOW) - an organization that provides ostomy supllies to those in need around the globe at no cost.
