A native of Chicago, IL, Tamara Byrd, MD, MPH is a surgical resident at UPMC. Throughout her residency training, Tamara has focused her time carrying out research and leadership efforts that center upon understanding health disparities and facilitating efforts that promote health equity. Tamara is interested in colorectal cancer disparities, especially those impacting racial and ethnic minorities. She is a recipient of the 2025 award for the best research for vulnerable populations from the UPMC Department of Surgery Research Day. Tamara's goal is to complete colorectal fellowship and contribute to efforts that achieve colorectal cancer equity.
