Samantha Hendren, MD, MPH is professor of surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis. She attended Yale University School of Medicine, general surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. Her practice includes all of colorectal surgery, however, she has a particular interest in surgery for colorectal cancer and multivisceral resections for pelvic tumors. Her research focuses on quality of care for colorectal cancer, surgical complications, and collaborative quality improvement. She was Associate Director of the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative until 2014, and now is Associate Director of the Illiana Surgical Quality Improvement Collaborative. In these roles she designed and implemented quality programs for surgical patients across multiple regional hospitals. She has served as chair of the ASCRS Rectal Cancer Committee, a member of the NAPRC executive committee, and on the ACS Cancer Programs' CRP Standards Investigation and Validation Committee.
