Dr. Marco Antonio Urbina Velázquez is a General Surgeon with advanced training in Colorectal Surgery, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and complex anorectal disorders.
He has completed observerships and academic collaborations at top institutions in the United States, including the University of Minnesota, where he worked with the Colon & Rectal Surgery team, as well as at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) under the mentorship of Dr. Rocco Ricciardi, gaining further experience in advanced colorectal surgery.
Dr. Urbina has contributed to multiple research projects in areas such as colorectal cancer, fecal incontinence, complex fistulas, ischemic colitis, goblet cell tumors, and emerging surgical techniques.
In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education, teaching and mentoring medical interns and residents. Dr. Urbina is committed to advancing surgical training, translational research, and international academic collaboration to strengthen the field of colorectal surgery in Mexico.
