Dr. Nan Chen is currently a Chief Surgeon at Beijing Cancer Hospital, specializing in surgical oncology of gastrointestinal malignancies. He holds dual doctoral degrees: a Doctorate in Surgical Oncology from Peking University Health Science Center and a Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacology from King’s College London, reflecting his unique interdisciplinary expertise bridging clinical surgery and translational research.
Dr. Chen’s clinical and research interests focus on colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), and stomal-related complications. His current research encompasses surgical complications of colorectal cancer, stomal-related issues, and neoadjuvant chemoradiation for rectal cancer. He was the champion of the National Gastrointestinal Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) competition in 2017, demonstrating his excellence in collaborative clinical decision-making.
His academic contributions include serving as first author for the PKUCH-R03 trial, a prospective study on neoadjuvant chemotherapy with capecitabine and oxaliplatin for mid-low locally advanced rectal cancer with negative mesorectal fascia, published in the Chinese Journal of Cancer Research (2024). With a strong background in both surgical techniques and clinical pharmacology, Dr. Chen brings a distinctive perspective to the management of complex gastrointestinal malignancies and malignant bowel obstruction.
